Mergui (professional stage name of Jonathan Mergui, Hebrew: יונתן מרגי; born July 10, 2000) is a leading Israeli pop singer, songwriter, and dancer. Born in Tel Aviv to a family with artistic roots (his father is singer Haim Mergui), he rose to national prominence as a teenager when he finished as the runner-up on the fifth season of the popular reality singing competition The Next Star (HaKokhav HaBa) in 2018.
Following his breakout, Mergui quickly became one of Israel's most successful young pop artists, releasing a string of major chart-topping radio hits—including "Tni Li Rga," "Hazman Shelanu," and "Maskarada"—that earned him multiple "Artist of the Year" and "Song of the Year" accolades from major Israeli media outlets like Galgalatz and Ynet. Beyond his solo musical career, he has expanded into acting, starring in the successful Israeli teen musical drama series Kfulim (Spit It Out), as well as branching out internationally with English-language pop releases as he bases himself part-time in the United States to build a global music career.
