An eerie atmosphere spreads throughout his home municipality when another young girl is murdered and a five-year-old mysteriously disappears. Cato Isaksen is assigned to the case. He has left his partner Sigrid and moved back in with his wife Bente and sons Gard and Vetle. Isaksen is still torn between his job as an investigator and his obligations as a father. This has particular consequences for his relationship with his eldest son Gard.
